What Should I Do if TextExpander Crashes on macOS?

How to troubleshoot TextExpander crashing on macOS

When TextExpander crashes or fails to launch on macOS, you may see error messages such as “TextExpander has encountered an error.” In this situation it usually helps to delete some local settings files:

  1. Open a Finder window.
  2. Hit Shift-Command-G.
  3. Paste in the following:

  1. Delete the folder with name com.smileonmymac.textexpander.
  2. Relaunch TextExpander.

Note: Some users have reported this can occur after the update to macOS 11.3 or macOS 11.3.1 but the above steps should help get TextExpander running again.
